Let It Go

Ally and I went with my best friend and her daughter to see Disney's blockbuster, Frozen two weeks ago. Now before you non-moms tune out ... Disney hit this one out of the park. The best part about Disney movies as an adult is you get to understand the real story. That' why I was inspired to get tickets after I read a mom's recap of the movie a few weeks back .
Ally loved it. And of course, I cried.
It's a story with twists and turns, romance, and sisterly love. Structurally the character who should be the flick's typical villain is not a villain at all, but a heroine. Elsa’s ability to freeze everything around her becomes a powerful force, and she’s the one who, intentionally or not, creates most of the challenges in the plot. She's just a gal who’s having trouble coming to terms with who she is and the incredible power she locks inside of her and her fear of failure.
Sound familiar? It's the story of many women.
Maybe it's your story or you've played this role before?
Maybe you're playing it out now?
What is it about our own power that keeps us so guarded?
Why do we hold back when we should just let it go?
The best part of this movie is the 3 1/2 minutes of Elsa's soaring declaration of independence when she sings Let It Go. Oh my! If you need a reason to get your tail moving on that important project, or need a boost of added "go-girl"...go see this movie. At a minimum watch this YouTube video (or view below).

My friend, when it seems like you're getting stuck in life or at home. Just let it go.
