For many it's the finish line for the work year...your last day in the office. Congratulations. You made it. If you're a parent though, the holidays are just beginning.
So, parenting is the coolest job I've ever had. Each day brings on new challenges and moments to cherish. I have a 3 year old, Ally. Her teachers say she's independent, creative, confident, and often takes the lead. I don't get to see her in action at school or with other children but at home, she can say the sweetest or funniest things. Here are the best from 2013...
After coming home and getting bitten by her boyfriend...
Me: Ally who bit you?
Ally: Dane
Me: Well what happens when he tries to bite you again?
Ally: I will say 'Dane I'm not a piece of cake'
After I tried to get her to go up to her bed...
After hearing me say we need to take a trip to New York and have fun...
Ally: Mommy...All I need is your credit card.
Randomly ...
Ally: Mommy?
Me: Yes, Ally?
Ally: When I turn 4, I'm going to call you mom.
One day before she went to school...
Me: 'Have a great day at school learning Ally'
Ally: 'Have a great day at work Mommy.' Snickering ...'Make some money (for me)'
After her birthday ...
Me: Ally did you have fun at your Thomas the Train party?
Ally: Yea Mommy. I'm a big girl now.
Me: What part was your favorite?
Ally: The Chips.
One night after I made some tea.
Mom, make me some tea. I'm a big girl.
One night as I was trying to get her to go to her bed (we still are)
Me: Ally -- time to go to bed, Thomas the Train is over.
Ally: Mommy, I don't want to.
Me: Well you have too. I love you!
Ally: Mommy you need more sleep than Ally so you go to sleep first.
Oh Ally thanks for making me smile, laugh, cry. I am so blessed to have the joy you bring to our lives.
