People find the idea of running 26.2 daunting. I did too, at once. But when you really sit down and think about it, plan and break it down into manageable bites...it's actually quite achievable! A dear friend of mine once said something ..."Dedicate a mile to each person and it takes the time off your mind". The same is true when we come upon challenges in our work and life. Can you break it down and put together mini goals that still get you to the same outcome?
Recently I became injured. I've been training for 6 months (a third time) for the Berlin Marathon which is at the end of September. I've followed a similar training schedule as my previous 3 races. What I've learned though is this strategy just doesn't work for me anymore. I've had to retune my thinking. I've had to redefine my strategy:
'Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after the other.'
