Today I had lunch with my former PMO lead, Sheila. We hadn't seen each other in a while. She left my team in 2008. Shortly before she left we had a discussion about her future. Sheila had dropped from college when she got married. Sheila surprised me with an invite to her graduation on May 15! I'm so proud she went back and finished what she started. She's really come along way. She kept this "secret" to surprise me -- in fact she AVOIDED me on Facebook for a whole year. I was overwhelmed with joy. Here's someone who took a risk and it paid off. How inspiring!
I'm about to embark upon a new beginning. I start my new job in Behavioral Health and Safety on Monday. I start admist a catastrophic industry event with the major oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico oozing 5000 barrels of oil a day. While this tragedy has impacted so many I am inspired to make a difference.
I learned from Sheila today that its not about how many people you inspire or empower -- the power of one is what makes all the difference.
Who inspires you? Who have YOU inspired?
To your success.
